Next came what I think was probably the hardest part of the whole ordeal- the dreaded Post-op.
We are very fortunate to have access to a pediatric opthamologist at all, let alone the top guy in NA (who Baby's first PO consulted from day one). We are also very fortunate that he is within driving distance, so we don't have to worry about airfare and hotel bills.
However, a four hour round-trip is still hard to take day after day (after day, after day...), and the gas costs are killing us (plus $11 parking each visit). Thank goodness we're down to weekly check-ups.
Baby has been going along fairly well, putting up with all of the drops, bright lights, pressure checks, etc, but she's finally had enough. Last week's exam was difficult due to extreme light-sensitivity and her pressures being on the low side. On the way to today's exam she was whiny and grumpy, which is very unlike her. She's tired of her eye being irritated, tired of the long drives, tired of the hours in the waiting room, tired of the exams.
BUT, her eye is doing great. It will all be worth it in the long run and she knows that. It's a good thing she's such a tough, stubborn little monkey- yes, I actually mean that ;-) She's started soccer, she's back to her schoolwork, she's riding her bike,
burying bugs, taking long walks on the nature trail, playing street hockey- she's doing all of her favourite Spring Things. Just with a pair of dark sunglasses and an adorable squint.
